The silence of the shooting range was shattered by a single bullet shot that rang out and a bullet hole was left in the target. Gordon looked away from the scope. The targets shaped to resemble human figures were littered with many bullet holes from various weapons but with Gordon's recent shots, the head of the target in front of him was left with nothing but holes.
He reloaded the gun quickly and raised it once more. He aimed carefully and kept his eye through the scope. The laser sight was now fixed on the target's head once more as he placed his finger on the trigger.
Another shot pierced the air and another hole was left in the target. Gordon set his rifle down and sat down on a crate he had set aside earlier to rest on. He exhaled sharply as he hung his head to rest a little, removing the ear plugs in his ears.

Zacharie hadn’t taken the time to practice his aim at the shooting range in quite some time, he’d been too busy tending to his usual daily routine. It was a routine that involved hiding from Fran for the most part. Spending unusual amounts of time in the training room of the commons, braving the taxi ride to Rogue Valley for whatever he needed and locking himself up in his room in general. A couple of days felt like an entire week for the spy, it was almost stressful.
He made his way down past the main commons to the small wooden range, Zacharie almost changed his mind after hearing a few shots ring out. Seeing Gordon sitting on one of the crates at the range was sort of a relief, but at the same time he was cautious. With his Enforcer in hand and his headset resting on his shoulders, he strolled up to the Sniper casually.
"Gordon, good afternoon." He snapped open the barrel of his revolver and checked the remaining rounds. He had three. He closed the barrel carefully again.

Gordon's attention perked slightly as he heard Zacharie's voice. He looked up to see the Spy with a revolver in his hand, ready to practice with it he assumed.
"Good afternoon." He replied quietly.
Gordon didn't mean to come off as antagonistic but he couldn't help but eye him suspiciously. After the events at Rogue River and the reveal of Zacharie's actions at the BLU base, Gordon was definitely going to bring something up. But not immediately. He was going to wait. Zacharie would more than likely find some way to dodge around anything and find some lies to weave and cover it up regardless of anything.
Gordon stood up again to plug the earplugs back in. "I'm going to get some more practice as well so do not mind me."
Always one to remain shrouded in enigma, dark cunningness and unable to be read or understood clearly. That was definitely Zacharie summed up in a sentence.
How troublesome.

“Not in the slightest.” He responded quickly, his tone was simple and unreadable. Zacharie often felt it difficult to read Gordon’s emotions as well, but he was rather used to it at this point. Slipping on his headset as he walked to the stall next to the Sniper’s, holding up his revolver with his left hand. He decided to give his right a chance to continue healing, plus improving his aim with his left would prove useful in case his right hand was injured in battle.
After steadying himself he squeezed the trigger, one, two, three times. Each shot rang out loudly as the bullets ripped through the paper target in front of him. Two to the chest and one barely clipped it’s shoulder. He exhaled an auditable sigh and lowered his revolver by his side, not the results he expected.

Gordon took a quick glance at Zacharie practicing his shots before refocusing back on his own stall. He began firing as well while reloading each bullet quickly and aiming carefully. The small sight quivered slightly but remained on point as much as possible. Piercing the head of the target once more, he lowered the rifle and turned. Zacharie had lowered his revolver and sighed audibly.
"Not going well?" Gordon asked.

“I’m afraid not.” He said with a hint of disdain to his voice, he slid off the headset off of his ear that was nearest to Gordon. “The aim on my non-predominant hand isn’t up to snuff.” Zacharie shook his arm out a bit, trying to ease the tension from the recoil. He glanced down at the ground for a moment where the discarded casings laid at his feet. “I suppose it’s my new short term goal to do so.”

"Hm." Gordon frowned as he ejected the bullet. "I see."
Gordon set down his rifle as he studied the target.
"Zacharie. I've been meaning to ask you something." He began to ask directly but at the same time, he wasn't going to flat-out confront him.
"I understand that back at Rogue River was...... To put it in light words, awkward." Gordon's eyebrow creased.
"Eric told me that you got into quite the struggle there while stealing the BLU files. I understand that it is your profession but would you care to elaborate on your intentions?" He asked with a rather cold voice.

Zacharie’s expression didn’t change much as Gordon asked his questions, but he did feel a bit tense. It was enviable; they weren’t alone when Eric went on about his trip to BLU’s commons. But he admired one thing about Gordon during their stay at Sawmill thus far; he was very straight to the point.
He nodded and sighed a little, turning to the target in front of him. Zacharie ran his right hand down his chin in thought, trying to find the best way to word things. After all he didn’t exactly confess what he stole to Fran, so no one technically knew yet.
“I was taking some necessary files that I needed.” He replied simply, reaching into his coat pocket for another set of bullets.

"Necessary files that you needed." Gordon said with a slightly raised eyebrow but stern expression. He could definitely tell that he was trying to work his way around this. Or was he? Gordon never considered himself to..... understand others well. "In what ways were they necessary to you?" Gordon balanced a bullet between his fingers. If anything, Gordon was ridiculously stubborn and determined in many endeavors. He wasn't keen on prying too much into the lives of his teammates unless necessary. But. There was definitely something going on especially between Zacharie and Fran. Would his involvement only make it worse?

He loaded the empty slots in his revolver with ammunition as Gordon spoke, snapping the revolver barrel closed with a flick of his wrist. Ah, he slipped up. He never specified if they were for the sake of the team or for himself personally before this point. However he wasn’t quite certain on how to divert the subject, or even continue lying at this point.
“For my investigation of course, surely you forgot.” He lifted his left arm again, looking straight down the barrel. He didn’t shoot, his headset wasn’t fully on still. The spy watched his aim for a second, taking note on how it differed from his usual aiming. “I haven’t given up on those mysterious disappearing files.”

"I haven't forgotten at all." Gordon replied bluntly as he tossed the bullet in the air lightly. "I merely set it aside for now. I surely don't have the same vigor as you do when it comes to this." He tossed the bullet in the air again and snatched it up in his palm.
The Sniper watched as the Spy reloaded his revolver. But his expression was still harsh.
"Just watch it when you delve into that. You know that you're going pretty deep into Fran's past." Gordon began. "As much as I'd like to know, it won't do much good to invade." He bit his lip as his eyes darted down at the bullet in his palm, collecting his thoughts.

He eyed Gordon carefully as he flipped the bullet much like one would a coin. An eyebrow raised, he lowered his arm and moved his revolver to his right hand. His palm wasn’t as sore any more, but he could feel the weight of the gun on the cut through his glove. Zacharie looked down at it as he spoke.
“I know.” For a moment he looked thoughtful, a hint of his usual confidence faltered. “I’ve done some terrible things.” He confessed to the Sniper with a quieted tone. “But,” Another thoughtful pause. “This whole ordeal, I’m too deep, my mind just won’t let me be.”

Noticing Zacharie behaving in a more subdued manner, Gordon looked at him without any sort of emotion really. He sighed solemnly but not in an exasperated manner.
"I can understand. We're just naturally curious aren't we? I mentioned before I'm curious as well but..... I'm not going to delve into it unless it reveals itself. But it isn't like secrets are hidden forever, are they?" Gordon said with a low, dark tone.
But in all honesty Gordon couldn't help but want to know what Zacharie had discovered.

“I am ever curious.” A grin returned to his face, looking back to Gordon. “Delving into secrets, finding the root of the cause, the why and what.” He gestured around him with his left hand, waving his revolver a bit in his right. “Losing sleep over theories and ideas, taking notes and… ah. I may have been a detective if it weren’t for my kleptomania.” He took a deep breath has his confidence fully returned to him.
“It’s all very exciting, I mean, I can’t stop thinking about it all, about her---” The spy suddenly stopped mid sentence, his grin quickly disappearing.
Oh.
