Elissa had gone back to doodling in her book, had any of the others looked at the page they would see a typical ghost like doodle, sheet with the cut out eyes and all that jazz, except this ghost was holding a fork and a knife, a plate of spaghetti floating in front of him. She looked more annoyed when the thumping had started, rather than nervous.
"Maybe it's hungry." She flipped to another page in the book and tore it out. One of her previous drawings of an odd looking bug she had watched crawl around outside. "Maybe it's a giant bug." she smiled and set the page on the edge of the couch, then stood up. "Sounds like fun."

Fran sank further into her seat. The ruckus downstairs was only getting worse, much to her dismay. Zacharie was right, of course; Ignoring it wouldn't do any good. Damn it, why did he have to be right now of all times?
In any other situation, she would have told him to go get his own damn ice but...well, he did say the magic word. That alone was more than Fran honestly expected from him. She nodded and pulled herself to her feet. "Alright. I guess I could go get something." She said with the tiniest hint of defeat and disappointment in her voice.
Fran returned a short moment later bearing the requested ice and pills. "There you are. Two or three of these should be good for now." She shook the bottle of painkillers slightly. "Since we all seem to be in such a rush to go spelunking in the basement right this second, I suppose I can take a closer look at you later." Fran nearly tossed the items to the spy, not wanting to show any more concern for him than absolutely necessary. "You're welcome." She wasn't holding her breath for any sign of gratitude, but she put that out there just in case.
"So." Fran looked between Zacharie and Gordon. "Let us hear your 'concrete plan' then."

Of course he would say please now. He was certainly wise enough to know when to say it; which is whenever there was something that one wanted without any fuss. And he wasn’t in the mood for it. Zacharie also attempted to ignore Fran’s remark about getting a further look at his injuries later, but it was becoming increasingly clear that his arm wasn’t going to fix itself.
“Merci.” He said as he caught the pills in his right hand (with a flinch) and the ice in his left. Zacharie took a seat at his usual chair and wasted no time in downing a few pills easily without the aid of any water. With a satisfied smile he applied the pack to his face with his right hand, which was the most clever idea he had had all evening. Settling himself in the chair with a posture much like a roosting bird, he tried his best to remain dignified as one with a black eye could manage.
“Well.” He began. “Certainly we do need a plan, but the nature of this- well, phantom, is so unpredictable that the only thing we can plan for is our survival. To be ready to react and be on our guard. Obviously none of us have experience with the supernatural outside of these events, so we will do what we can.”

"Are you sure you can go down there with those injuries?" He asked as Zacharie swallowed the pills with ease and pressed the pack of ice against his face.
"But I don't disagree with you." Gordon muttered quietly in agreement with the Spy. "Nothing else much to say really."
He tapped his index finger gently against his temple."We'll put extreme caution into this. We're going down there to investigate since this probably won't stop and will get worse. Can't say for certain but....." He paused momentarily. "We'll watch out for each other down there should anything happen." He tried to speak with an assuring tone of voice but there really was no knowing what would happen with this.

"So your plan is...just be more careful this time? That's it?" Fran folded her arms and shot Zacharie an incredulous look. "So what you mean to say is...you have no plan?" So what it boiled down to was: he wanted to go down and directly confront whatever has been tormenting them right now and he was dead set on dragging the rest of them with him. Wonderful.
"We should at least bring something with us. Like...uhh..." Drat, this coming up with a plan thing was tricky. They were a group of highly trained professionals yes, but put them against something they couldn't just shoot in the face and they were at a complete loss. What do you even fight a ghost with? Garlic? Wait that didn't sound right at all. And given his snarky little 'toy' comment, she figured Zach would shoot her down if she suggested bringing more equipment.

“That is my point exactly. None of us knows a damn thing about how to handle this situation. I will be the first to admit.” Zacharie raised his voice a little; it was plain to see that he was low on spare tact at this point. “And what good is just sitting here and just thinking going do for us? Nothing.” He gestured towards the direction of the basement with his free hand. “Unless we can somehow get some sort of person who has experience with this supernatural nonsense in this base tonight, I highly doubt any of us will have a better plan.” He huffed and leaned back in his chair, he was overdue for a cigarette at this point. The painkillers were starting to help ease his headache, but his nerves were starting to feel a bit on edge from the lack of nicotine.
“At this point I’ll take anyone who thinks they have seen a damn ghost.” Zacharie brought his voice back down to room level, but there was a noticeable shakiness to his confident tone.

"That could qualify as me but then again....." He whispered under his breath at an inaudible tone. He shook his head in constant irritation. Even if he was easily annoyed, he didn't like to show it. But nevertheless, the whole matter was troubling. "I don't believe any of us have any experience with this sort of investigation and whatnot." He shrugged only very slightly, but kept a stern face. "We don't know what to expect regardless of whether we go down there or not." He said.

Elissa slid off the couch and onto the floor, sliding the sketchbook under the couch, then looking back up at the others. "Maybe it wants something." she picked at the charred part of her pant leg "Something being the BLUs" Because everyone knows she's only saying that because those BLUs are cranky, territorial bastards, definitely not the fact that she doesn't wanna let anyone know that they're out of spaghetti noodles. She'll go on a late night adventure over to the enemy base on a later night.

"So...a human sacrifice? Do ghosts usually like those?" Now that she stopped to think about it, it wasn't actually that bad of an idea. Especially if they could get one of the BLUs to 'volunteer'. Fran shrugged. "I would give anything a try at this point. Especially if it's planning on keeping up that banging all night. The pounding at the basement door had grown faint and sporadic, but every now and then it started up again. Her eyebrows twitched in annoyance. Ghost or not this racket had to stop.
"It looks like no plan is our only plan then." She glanced at Zacharie, still nursing his swollen eye. "And since no plan was your plan, I vote you go first."

With each continuous pound on the basement door Zacharie became more grateful of those painkillers. If he hadn’t taken them he was certain that his headache would have escalated into a full blown migraine. As he listened he raised his other eyebrow when Fran mentioned that he should go first. Hand and ice pack planted firmly on his face still.
“Fine.” He said with a light sigh. “I will at least step down to look. Perhaps if that does not work out, well, we can grab a BLU mercenary and toss them down there.” He said with complete seriousness. The spy entertained the thought of human sacrifice at this point. He would try anything to make that racket stop. On top of that, what more fun could he have than to march back to that base and send another sorry BLU to the respawn? It was great stress relief.
“I will go and have a quick cigarette, I suggest if you are going to follow me that you gather whatever you feel will be necessary.” Zacharie stood up from his chair, pulling the pack away from his face for a moment and putting it down on a nearby table. His face was sufficiently numb by now but it still hurt quite a bit. Not to mention his arm was considerably more sore, he would have to spend the night relying on his left hand.
Calmly he removed his cigarette case from his coat and snapped it open. “I’m going outside for a moment, meet you all here in about five minutes.”

"Wait. You guys have got to be kidding me." Gordon said with slight disbelief towards the notion of a human sacrifice to be used. "Are you serious about using a BLU as a sacrifice?" Gordon felt that he would have been the first one to suggest such a thing but he would never actually mean it..... He shook his head and sighed. "Do what you want I suppose. I have no say in the matter, other than the possibility of us getting someone else to investigate with us." He really didn't want to use a "sacrifice" as the notion did somewhat perturb him. But he shrugged it off soon after. They could do what they wanted. But it would result in much more venom and animosity between the two teams. Not that it mattered really.
"Alright." Gordon sighed as he walked out of the room and went upstairs with his hands in his pockets. Opening the door to his room slightly, he went over to the small desk and picked up various papers and letters that he had received. A few of them were from his friends back at Dustbowl. Most of the letters were from a Scout and a Spy back at his old base. They detailed the recent events at both the bases. Apparently, there have been frightening occurrences back at Dustbowl as well.....
Gordon frowned. It was really starting to get rather irritating. Even if he wanted to bring weapons to defend themselves in case anything happened, it would probably have no effect on whatever the hell was down there should it be a ghost. He grabbed onto a quiver of arrows and he grabbed a kukri as well. It was better to be safe than sorry.

As the group went their separate ways, the left one very crucial question unanswered: how exactly were they going to convince a BLU to go looking in their basement for ghosts? That part would have to wait.
Returning to her office, Fran briefly contemplated grabbing a weapon herself, but she saw little point. She did, however, slip a tape recorder in per pocket. Zach may not be too keen about her previous experiment, but she'd kick herself later if something extraordinary happened and she didn't at least capture a recording. What else do you bring when you're looking for a ghost? Holy water? Silver bullets? Salt? Garlic? Once again, none of those sounded anywhere close. They probably didn't even have any garlic handy anyway. Fran made a mental note to pick some up next time she went out.
She returned empty-handed to the common room and reclaimed her seat on the couch, counting the cracks on the ceiling until the others arrived back as well.

Elissa smiled to herself and ran off toward her room. Hopefully they could solve this whole 'ghost' issue soon, because this constant thumping was getting pretty annoying. There's only so much noise that stupid gas mask can block out and unfortunately it's not the most comfortable thing to sleep in.
As she ran down the stairs, she peeked down the opposite hallway, the thumping on the door seemed to have stopped for now, maybe she could just run off and sleep while it's quiet.
The Pyro didn't grab much, although she did keep in mind that fire could be involved again and decided it would be better to wear the fire retardant suit, despite the thing probably getting a bit water logged. A flashlight and some spare batteries along with a secret stash of waterproof matches made it into her pockets as she grabbed for the axe leaning against the wall.
Elissa made her way back upstairs to wait for the rest of the group, playing a game of "Let's balance the barbed wire wrapped axe dangerously on your hand" while waiting for the two men to return.

After everyone dispersed he stepped back outside again to have his cigarette in peace. It took a little longer than usual to light up due to his sore arm, but once he did was a relief. Zacharie felt finally at ease after the first drag. He even caught a bit of a nicotine buzz, which was something he hadn’t felt in a while.
Now that he had a good mix of chemicals keeping him together Zacharie noticed how awkward his arm was feeling at that point. What could he do to keep it from being a problem during the excursion? He really could have used a sling, but pride kept him from asking for one. Perhaps he could prop up his arm inside his coat? He laughed to himself a bit as he thought about it, he would look like one of those samurai from the films, arm propped up inside his suit like that. But what else could he do?
Oh right, the ghost.
It was truthfully a good thing that he was inhibited by his injuries, if he were well enough when the knocking first started he would have just gone alone. But a moment to pause was good, have everyone gather what they felt necessary before diving back down to the depths. What did he have? His revolver, knife and a bad arm. All in all he had been worse off before.
After finishing the cigarette in record time, he flicked it onto the ground and put it out with his heel. With a quick turn he made his way back through the door to find both Fran and Elissa back in the commons room already. The pyro seemed to be armed, but the medic was not.
“Well then.” He said with an exasperated sigh and a matching look. In the background he could still hear the sounds from the basement. This was becoming incredibly silly.

The knocking in the hallway seemed to have stopped at least momentarily. It would probably start again soon, given the nature of it all. As he walked towards the commons room, the knocking did start once again. How annoying. As much as Gordon wanted to stab an arrow into the door, it was a stupid idea, really. He peeked into the commons room to see that Zacharie had returned, Elissa has brought some weapons along with wearing a fire-proof suit, and Fran..... nothing. A fire-proof suit was definitely a good call along with a flashlight. He adjusted the quiver on his back as he walked into the commons room.
"I guess we're alright for now. Though more light sources wouldn't hurt. I will be right back." Gordon muttered as he turned to head out once again upstairs. He had kept several batteries and flashlights stowed away in his room in case he felt like heading out at night to take a stroll. The nighttime was just rather calming to him. Anyways, he brought a few down with him, slipping them into his pockets before taking another glance at the letters on his desk. He read through the ones detailing supposed paranormal activity back at his old base.
"Dear Gordon, The mysterious silhouettes in the base have increased. I do not know if this is a prank by the BLU team or actual paranormal hauntings..... But Vincent told me he was attacked by one. I have yet to encounter one up close but..... I'll let you know more when we learn more about it. Ferenc has been on-edge ever since Vincent was attacked. The only thing we can do now is be careful and keep an eye out for whatever may happen. I suggest the same to you and your teammates. Please be careful. Ferenc, Vincent, and I would be devastated if anything were to happen to you. I'm afraid I know nothing of the paranormal..... I cannot help with either of our situations. But at the very least, make sure that you are not alone. And be sure to be wary! Take care. - Aurélie"
When it came to the paranormal, what can you truly expect? He walked downstairs with the thoughts in his mind and troubling him. He hoped that they would find something out. He walked back into the commons room with a frown. "Sorry about that but I thought the more flashlights we had the better." He placed three flashlights on the table. "I suppose that will suffice for now."
