And then, to Ian's worst fears, the woman pressed on. There was no getting out of it now. "Just uh... surprise me?" He really hoped she'd just go along with it -- not really caring what he'd have to hold down in order to keep any unnecessary attention off of him.

"Alrighty then." Eunice waved the bartender over, "Two hard lemonades on rocks, please." The bartender nodded and went to fetch two glass bottles of drink, and set it down in front of her, and popped the caps off. The blonde woman handed Ian his drink and gave him a nod, then took a swig/

Ian reluctantly took the bottle from Eunice and had a sip. It didn't taste that bad; maybe a tad bit more sour than he'd like -- but otherwise it was actually pretty nice. The Medic felt as if he'd dodged a bullet... at least this time. Just for good measure, he took a second, slightly bigger drink.
"Thanks again." He smiled at her as he set the the bottle back on the counter.

"Uh," Ian hesitated to answer. Was there an easy way of revealing that he was a combat medic? It took him a few seconds to scrape up an answer. "...First response." He finally uttered, and reached for a mouthful of lemonade. It was close enough, so he wasn't technically lying -- but he was aware that sidestepping around like this was bound to be dangerous eventually.

"Yeah." He responded quickly, drumming his fingers nervously against the bar a few times. "I'm still... kind of trying to get used to things around here, though. It's a lot different than the city -- y'know?"

"Yeah, not as convinent as a city, but it's nice t' feel some fresh air n' git so close t' th' wild." she replied, "Didn't git much 'a that in mah college years like I did back home on th' farm... so I really missed it,"

"Mhm." Ian started to swivel his stool back and forth. "By 'different', I didn't mean that it was bad. I actually like it. ...The peacefulness, I mean." Now that the subject had been changed, he began to relax. "I've never been on a farm before, though."

"A lotta hard werk," Eunice replied, downing her bottle of lemonade. "Hey bartender, dirty martini please." The engineer turned back to the doctor, "Like I said, it's a lotta hard werk, we lived behind a buncha woods, so a lot 'a wild animals would come by n' try t' git our livestock."

"Well, that's not very nice of them at all." Ian commented jokingly, laughing a little before raising his bottle to his mouth again. He still had about a third of his drink left, so he figured he'd finish it and then worry about finding a payphone after that.
"So, I don't know how long you've been around here or anything..." He started, trying to keep conversation between the two going. "But uh, are there any places around here you'd... recommend? I mean, places of interest, or something." It was apparent that the Medic wasn't sure how to word his own question; he hoped the woman understood what he was trying to ask anyway.

"Uh... you mean..." Eunice downed her drink, "There's a beautiful waterfall just north 'a th' town; near an abandoned sawmill. But I wouldn't recommend going there until nightfall." The woman picked up her third drink of martini and sipped it a bit, then set it down.

Abandoned. The irony of hearing about the 'abandoned' sawmill echoed inside Ian's head.
"Oh." He spun the almost-empty bottle in his hand a bit, watching the remaining liquid slosh against the glass. In truth, he'd asked about places within the town to go see -- but decided to avoid repeating himself. "Well, I didn't mean today... since I plan on making my way home soon, and all. Maybe I'll go check out this saw--"
He managed to catch himself before expressing interest in the sawmill. "-- err, waterfall... next time I have a day off." He downed his bottle after fidgeting with his words, and then wiped his mouth with a shirt sleeve.

Ian shook his head. "Nah... it's okay. I think it's about time I head out anyway." He explained as he flagged the bartender down to pay for his first drink. He quickly made his way over to the Medic, who was reaching into his wallet for cash. "Thanks, th--"
He was interrupted when something dropped out of the wallet -- flopping itself onto the bar. A quick inspection revealed it to be one of the BLU Medic patches he'd mindlessly placed in there for safe keeping... and forgot about. Not thinking much of it, Ian quickly snatched up the fabric and pocketed it. He continued paying afterwards as if nothing had happened. "Have a nice night." He advised the bartender politely, with a small smile. The young man then turned his head towards Eunice one last time. "...Both of you."
With one swift motion, Ian stood and spun around towards the door. There was a payphone near the entrance, and he planned to request a taxi with it and make his leave back to Sawmill.
