John chuckled at the eagerness both the medic and scout seemed to have towards his new companion. To be honest, he was quite relieved that he wouldn't have to be getting rid of the kitten - it'd really have been a shame if he'd had to. He made a mental note to ask the medic to take a look at it later, just to make sure that it was healthy. Engineer wasn't a doctor, and it never hurt to make sure.
His toolbox hit the floor with a resounding clunk as he lay it down to reach forward and grasp Eric's hand. "My name's John," he said, with a firm shake. "It's nice ta meet ya both."

Ian was kneeling down near the cat when John and Eric shook hands. "O-Oh, sorry!" He spoke quickly, realizing the little kitten had made him completely forget about his manners. The Medic propped himself back up and chuckled nervously. "I'm Ian. It's... nice to meet you too." He introduced himself calmly to the Engineer while rubbing the back of his neck.
"Do you, uh, need any help moving your things to a room?" He asked as he nodded towards the man's things. He looked to have had his hands full when entering the building, so Ian figured he'd ask to assist. "...And/Or the garage?" He tacked it onto the end, barely remembering that they even had one. He'd never had a need to go over to that part of the base, so it would be interesting to check out anyway.

Eric nodded, "Nice to meet you too." Pulling her hand back and gesturing to a near by hallway, adding, "Yeah, there are plenty of vacant rooms. Almost, like, nobody is here. I dunno if BLU is understaffed or something, but the teams not even half full."

John grinned at Ian, holding the kitten up delicately and placing it on the floor. Boy, that medic sure liked cats, didn't he? "Ain't no harm done. Go ahead an' hold 'im if ya like. And doncha worry about mah stuff, I got that handled.
"And I reckoned," he directed at Eric. "Seems awful lonely here." He heaved his toolbox and bags back up, hummed a bit, then murmured, "To be honest, I think somethin's goin. They didn't give me much notice before reassignin' me here. Has anythin been out of tha blue lately?"

Upon being granted permission, Ian scooped up the cat and held it against him. The baby feline mewed softly at the touch, prickly claws poking through the young man's shirt. He laughed a bit and gave the kitten another pet before prying it off of his clothes and gently setting it on the floor to roam the base. This was definitely a change he could live with -- Ian loved pets.
When John asked if anything had been going on recently, Ian looked away. It didn't really take much thinking to figure out a possible cause. "Well, uh," he started, shifting his weight on his legs. "We've been having random power outages... every once in a while. Might explain why they transferred you." He explained, eyes watching the cat plod around the common room. The memories of that one night wandering around the darkened base with Eric started coming back, sending a chill up his spine.
He blinked the thoughts away though, and continued speaking. "Can't say we were really... expecting you either, but you're welcome here." He said with a small smile. Because, of course, having more members on their team was never a bad thing.

Eric wasted no time in plucking the kitten off of the ground the moment Ian set it down. It squirmed a bit in her hands, but that only made her want to pet it more. Cats were always great. All soft and fluffy and friendly... well, most of the time. One of the drawbacks of birds was that they weren't exactly eager to be held, but now they had a kitten to fill the roll of animal to be held. Well, John had a kitten, at least, she doubted he wouldn't let her pet it though if she was nice to him.
After Ian finished, she added jokingly, "We also seem to have this nasty problem where things will disappear, reappear halfway across the base, and fly off of tables. But unless you happen to be a priest too, I'm pretty sure they didn't send you for that."

John listened carefully to Eric and Ian's responses. He felt they were hinting at supernatural events, and laughed softly at what he felt was their naivety - such things didn't exist.
John's boots scuffed the linoleum floor slightly as he shifted a bit under the added heavy weight of the cold metal toolbox in his arms as well as his various other belongings. His face was slightly strained; not to say that he couldn't handle the load, but he was a bit tired after the long trip here, as well as possessed with an eagerness to settle in.
"Well... I ain't no priest, but I'm sure there's some rational explanation fer all that. Y'all mind givin' me a quick tour of the base and showing me to the garage? I'll take a look at that circuit breaker panel after I settle in a bit."
Maybe - most likely - everything would be due to logical reasons, like a cable that needed to be rewired -- that way he would assuage their fears, and root out his own seeds of doubt.
OOC: Please bear with me, it's been a year since I've RP'd legitly, and I'm a bit out of practice. ^^"

Eric nodded, still clutching the kitten in her arms. Hell if she was putting that little guy down anytime soon. "The dorms and medical ward are back this way," she said, taking a few step towards a near by hallway. "To get to the garage you have to go outside, so we'll go around the base first."

"If the door's open, the room's vacant. Just... settle in wherever you like." Ian added after Eric spoke, opting to omit the parts he heard from the Scout about the other closed dorms. "Oh, and... if you ever need to find me, my room's the one closest to the ward." Figuring it would be useful information to know, even if he didn't really spend much time locked up there.
Next, he raised a pointed finger towards the room they came out of. "The kitchen's there. We were... uh, just about to have lunch. Did you want to join us?" He offered, surprised his stomach had let him forget about the sandwiches sitting on the counter at all, let alone for this long.

He distinguished the hallway Eric pointed at, and thought about making a map of the place later, or at least a sketch until he could get around. He didn't really feel the need to inconvenience his team any time he happened to get lost.
He then watched as the kitten began nuzzling its small nose against Ian's hand and purring. John vaguely wondered about naming cat later, but that wasn't an issue they had to address straight away. The engineer felt fairly content with the situation. He was happy with the attachment both Eric and Ian had to the kitten - it seemed like the team got along pretty well; he didn't see any deep tensions or conflict, except for that one issue about the supernatural, but John felt that that would be fixed soon enough. Hopefully it would be the same on the battlefield.
At Ian's question of lunch, however, he declined politely, and took a few steps towards Eric. "Naw. I'll be sure to come down later -- maybe after I get a look 'round the place -- but I do sure appreciate the offer.
"--- And thanks, y'all, fer helpin' me out. I know it must be hard to be wastin' time on new recruits like me. I'm much obliged."
His smile was genuine.

"I think you'll find that one thing we have more then enough of around here is time to waste," she replied with a chuckle. Eric continued toward the hall, but paused, Ian's mention of lunch reminding her of the pot on the stove. Oh well, at least it'll be boiling by the time we get back. Ignoring the thoughts, she picked up her pace, pleased to see that the kitten in her arms had calmed down.
It was nice to finally have another teammate around, especially one that seemed so friendly. With any luck, John would stick around longer then their previous engineer had. As they entered the hall, the scout pointed to one of the closed doors near the end of the hall, commenting, "That's my room by the way. In case you ever need me for some reason."

Ian nodded. "Yeah, it's no big deal at all." He reassured John after Eric did, sporting a smile of his own. Assisting his team was part of his job, after all, so something like this was no inconvenience to the Medic. Plus, he liked talking to the new recruits. Their little team was steadily become more populated, and it was relieving that each incoming member ended up being as tolerable as the last. He only hoped the trend would continue.
Not wanting to be left behind, Ian turned and followed a cat-toting Scout and a toolbox-toting Engineer down the hall.

John held even more chagrin now that he knew he was interrupting their lunch. He gulped and stepped into one of the various unoccupied rooms along the hallway, setting his bags down hastily. Hopefully he hadn't take up too much of their time already - the last thing he needed was for the team to think he was going to be a bother.
"Y'all can git on back to yer lunch if ya like," he mumbled. "Just point me to the garage real quick, and I'll git goin'."

She shrugged, pausing in her stride. "It's not really that big of a deal, y'know. But, if you really wanna," Eric spun around and retraced her steps out of the hallway, stopping just inside of the living room. Pointing to the door, she continued, "Just outside, take a right, it's a few buildings down. Sorta looks like a little shack-type thing. It should have all you'd need in it. Probably." In reality, the scout had no clue what the state of the garage was. She hadn't set foot in it since their last engineer had up and gotten transferred.
Reluctantly, she held the kitten out to John, asking, "You sure you don't wanna stay for lunch? I'm gonna make some killer mac and cheese."
