The car hummed along the road, the furthest buildings of Rouge River just starting to peek over the horizon. Eric sat in the passenger seat once more, an open comic book on her lap. She had grown bored of reading it, however, and instead took up watching the passing scenery and tapping on the cars dashboard.
Next to her sat Ian, once again being stuck with the task of making the long drive from the old Sawmill to town. Eric always hated driving, she rarely had to do it, so it was always a nerve wracking experience. The only other person with the two that day was their newest teammate, Achillie, and it would have been suicidal to let the blind man drive. Despite that, he had still offered while Ian and Eric had argued about who would drive. The conflic had been quickly resolved, though, and Eric agreed to drive back, something she was now regretting.
That wasn't the biggest thing on her mind at the moment, though. That second, her thoughts were filled with giddy thoughts of a new teammate. The third new person stationed at their base in one week, and of all classes, a spy. It was hard to not be excited about something like that, if you were that particular scout. Getting new teammates was always exciting by itself, but Eric liked spies. At least, she liked the spies she'd had on her team in the past. Amidst teams full of crude, unstable, and usually sexist men, spies were almost always calm and reasonable people. Not that the BLU team at Sawmill was lacking calm and reasonable people, but still, it never hurt to have more.
By now they had entered the town and would arrive at the train station soon. Deciding to brake the comfortable silence in the car, Eric glanced at Ian and asked, "Sooo, whaddya know about this guy? I mean, assuming you read his file. And assuming it's a he. Oh man, are they a girl? We seriously need another girl on this team."

The Train ride was long and cold, which was Claude's strong-suit. Lost in thought he peered out of his window. "What could they be like?" He thought, perplexed at the idea of a new group to work with.
The last time he did anything like this was a couple of months ago, and it didn't go over very well. The scar on his back and forearm ached with the vague memories of near incineration and mutilation. The Doctors were amazed at how he survived the encounter. If it weren't for the medic at the time he would have lost his arm and potentially his life.
Returning to reality he looked down at Felix his cat, who was pawing at his leg for attention. Reluctantly he picked up the cute little kitten, and began to stroke the little fellow. How curious really, the whole situation. Just when he thought he was going to lose everything, BLU recontacts him and tells him to move out to the States for a re-entry into service. "One of the best" he mumbled, though he never believed it.
"Ten Minutes to arrival" beckoned through the speakers above. "And so begins our little adventure" Claude said with a smile as he smiled down at his cute little kitten, who promptly pounced from his lap and wandered the train car back to his carrier.

The trio steadily made their way down the main street of the small town, directed by Ian. Honestly the only time you'd ever see the young man leading anyone was if he had to. And, picking up on Eric's apprehension for driving and Achille's... disability, he knew he was the only one fit to sit behind the wheel for this trip. Of course, the Scout had agreed to trade him spots for the ride home, but he was considering to 'forget' about her offer, anyway.
As they rolled along, Eric broke the lingering silence between the three. It was surprising actually, how long the car had made it without any speaking. You figure with social butterflies like his teammates the vehicle would be bustling with activity for the duration of the ride, but... well, it's not like he could complain. Ian enjoyed his peace and quiet just as much as a friendly conversation, if not more.
"Yes, it's a he. And... well, he's not blind." The Medic explained with a small chuckle. Of course Ian had made a note to go over their new recruit's files beforehand -- anything to avoid getting into the same embarrassing situations as last time. "But no, uh... the only interesting thing was that he is really tall. Like Taiki." He tried to recall a few more details whilst drumming his fingers on the steering wheel, not to much avail. "...Other than that, just a few medical incidents. Nothing special."
Conveniently enough, that was when the car arrived at the train station. Ian skillfully positioned themselves in a parking spot close to the entrance before cutting off the ignition. He removed the keys and jingled them a few times before sliding them into a pocket.

"I don't think I've met this Taiki person yet." Achille said, idly rubbing his chin with his hand and making a note to trim when he returned to the base. Stubble was irritating his skin again. "Though to be fair, you two are the only members of our little base that I've met. You weren't kidding before when you called them anti-social." It was true. In his short time at the BLU base he had not met a single one of his other team members, something he found odd and slightly annoying.
As the car came to a stop and the sound of the engine died down Achille exited the vehicle, stretching his limbs and yawning. The ride hadn't been too long but he was a fairly tall individual so he was a bit stiff after being cooped up. And if the new guy was as tall as Ian made him out to be than he could only imagine how much more cramped it would be. Though, he reminded himself, compared to Ian and Eric most people were 'tall'.
"So my amazing detective abilities are telling me that we've arrived at the train station." Achille said with a smirk, pausing long enough to allow a train whistle to blow before continuing. "Where are we supposed to be meeting this new guy at?"

Eric flung the car door open, relishing the cool air that flooded over her. "Train station," she replied, "What, you think the guy was gonna walk here? Or drive, I guess. Pretty long drive between bases, though. Looked at a map of all the bases, once, all of 'em are pretty far apart. Did you know there's one up in Alaska? I'd hate to be stationed there. I bet it's cold as fuck year round." She hopped out of the car and surveyed the handful of people exiting the building. It looked like they had gotten there just as the train their spy was on had arrived. How convenient.
"So, Ian, you know what this guy looks like? Aside from being tall, that is."

Claude gathers him many items and ducks out of the train. His height often gets in the way of many things like this. Doorways, elevators, buses even. With cases, carrier and cage in hand he makes his way to the front of the crowded building. So many people, almost too many for the little town are gathered in the station. He finally gets out to set his luggage down on the edge of the street.
Poe Squawks and Felix meows loudly. So many people, where could they be going in this industrious little town. Nearly to many. Slowly Claude sat himself down on the curb, where he waits for some time. Allowing Felix out to sit in his lap. "This team must be better than the last" He hoped aloud. The last one had only worked properly in one sense, they made sure that the spy they had felt absolutely horrid all the time.
After some time Claude began to get worried were they even coming to get him? Did he have to get a cab or take a bus? They said they'd send a welcoming party? , He lowered his head in thought and worry, Felix nuzzles himself close under chin. He must have known something was wrong.

He listened to Eric's remarks to Achille, smiling a bit. Yes, this seemed much more normal than silence for them. Maybe it was better than having a lack of noise around after all. Ian stepped out of the vehicle last for some reason, promptly shutting the door behind him. He figured they wouldn't be staying in front of the station too long, so the car locks weren't set.
"Uh, nope." He responded to Eric's question, grin dropping to a slight frown. "The guy had his mask on in the portfolio image." That, and the Medic hadn't really bothered to look for much else besides the recruit's medical history. Even considering this, a man as tall as that Spy would not be difficult at all to spot in this crowd.

Claude stood up, making him a lot easier to spot now. Felix had grown bored of him and thought it be funny to claw at his suit. Not cool. He was replaced in his carrier just as he had when they left the train. It hadn't been long but he was worried. Though this wasn't new. Most of his life was spent in worry and thought.
Poe his Raven was twitching about his cage, unsure of what to make of the place. He let out several shrill tones and then quoted Claude "And so begins our little adventure." God when are they even going get here? The animals were getting distressed... Then again we've only been hear 10 min, at Least he thought so.

Eric nodded slowly, surveying the train station. "Honestly, I'm not sure what else to expect from a spy. Wonder if this means he's gonna show up wearing a mask. I swear, spies are so picky about showing their face to their own teammates sometimes." It didn't take her long, however, to spot a man standing on the steps of the station. A very tall man. Accompanied by a cat an a raven. It certainly looked odd enough to be a possibility.
Without waiting to see if Ian had noticed the man, Eric walked over to him, the closest thing she could muster to a friendly grin on her face. "Pardon me sir, are you a new recruit to Builders League United?"

Claude looked down to find a short Asian american looking woman staring up at him. Well short compared to himself. "Yes," he replied "I take it you're my ride? I certainly hope you brought a big enough car, I'd prefers not to lean out the window this ride." His mood was enlightened by the thought of this. Finally some contact, paired with the fact that shes seems delighted to have a new teammate. I wonder if everyone will be this happy to see me.

"Doesn't a Spy try to... blend in though? A mask here would just--" Ian stopped himself once he noticed Eric had disappeared. Guess he was too distracted scanning the entrance of the station to notice the man she'd approached near the street. She was probably too distracted by the man to even listen to him anyway. The Medic sighed.
"This way." He called out to Achille, wanting to make sure the Pyro wasn't left behind. Then he made his way over to the other two, stopping a few steps back. He didn't want to interrupt their conversation, after all. Getting a good look at the unfamiliar man, he was indeed very tall. What was it with Eric and spotting their rather height inclined teammates so easily?
The man was also toting an animal carrier and a bird cage along with his bags. Pets? Their little base was going to be a zoo at this rate. Not that Ian really minded.

Eric grinned at his lighthearted response. At least this man seemed to be a far cry from the opposing teams spy. "No worries, there should be plenty of room," she replied, bending down to inspect the caged bird, "I got some birds back at the base too. What's this guys name?"

"This my dear is probably one of my dearest friends, Poe" Claude replied, reveling in memory. "He doesn't like the cage much, I usually let him fly where he wants. I hope the base is big enough for him to explore. He really hates being inside." Claude looks up from the young looking woman to see himself being stared at by a young man with a companion nearby. "I take it that's our ride over there? You know I never really got you're name." Claude looks back down at her smiling like an idiot. He really was going to enjoy this new job.

Once he noticed a stall in the two's conversation, Ian decided it was time to step forward. Observing from a distance for too long was rude, after all, and the last thing the young man wanted was to leave a bad first impression on his new teammate. Walking over, he took a stand next to Eric.
"You must be our new teammate then...?" The Medic spoke a tad bit nervously, but wore a small polite smile even still. From this close, the man's height was rather intimidating to him... but he couldn't be that bad, right? Eric certainly hadn't been irritated by him yet -- that had to count for something.
"I'm Ian. It's-- uh, it's nice to meet you." He introduced himself in the same tone while offering Claude a hand to shake out of habit.

"Yeah, yeah there's plenty of room," she replied absentmindedly, more interested now with sticking her fingers in the birds cage than talking to the spy. Along with the birdcage, Eric noticed that there was another pet carrier sitting near by, she was about to investigate further when Ian introduced himself, reminding her that she should do the same. Standing up and brushing a few strands of hair out of her face, she added after the medic finished, "I'm Eric, by the way. Scout, if you couldn't tell by my uniform."
