"True, true. Still, I was hoping for just a tiny bit more professionalism than...well, that." Fran motioned back towards the store. She adjusted her glasses and continued to stare at the ground. "Not like yo-- Um, what I mean to say is..." The words caught in her throat. Come on Fran you can do this. Taking a deep breath, she continued. "I'm glad you're at least sensible. You are quite good at what you do and you really contribute to the team. I mean, I'm...I wanted to tell you that I appreciate that." After intense mental effort, Fran finally managed to stutter out her compliment through gritted teeth. Plan B, that being flattering Zacharie until he let some information slip, was turning out to be much more difficult then she anticipated.

Zacharie stood in silence for a second, looking down at Fran with a slightly surprised expression. The man couldn’t even remember the last time Fran had spoken a kind word about him. Her expression kind of conflicted with her words though, maybe she was a little to proud to admit these things? He wasn’t all that sure himself.
“Why, thank you.” He responded, his surprise showed. Grinning a little, he waved his hand as he spoke, leaving a cigarette smoke trail in his motions. “I mean, it really is nothing. All I did was just cloak my way into their commons and- eh, ahem.” Zacharie suddenly choked as well.
No, no, no. You should have said BASE, you moron. Give the man once chance to brag and he blows it.

Fran was actually shocked at how easily he crumbled under the slightest bit of praise. Was he really that desperate to impress her? She played it cool, acting like she didn't catch his little slip. "But I've seen so many incompetent spies in my time you know. None of them have carried as many blue briefcases through our door as you have." Getting through the first compliment opened the floodgates. She turned her head away from him, mostly because she couldn't stop a sly smile from creeping on to her face.

Ruth was glad that they were done fighting. Now that things have calmed down, maybe she won't get yelled at. She walked over to where Zach and Fran were. "Hey, umm," trying to avoid eye contact. "I'm sorry, kinda. I mean, that girl is really annoying and I'm just really on edge." She turned to Zach, "Can I have a cigarette please?"

She didn’t catch that slip? Odd. Zacharie tried to hide his obvious fuckup with a grin. “Stop, you’re flattering me.” He waved his hand dismissively. Something was up, that was for certain. What was she trying? At the same time he really didn’t mind the compliments. After all, he felt they were very well deserved.
“Ah.” Before he could say anything else, he noted Ruth’s arrival. “Certainly, here.” He put his own cigarette in his mouth for a moment as he dug out his case from his coat and took out a single cigarette. He turned to the Soldier and handed it to her with a gloved hand. “Need a light as well?”

"Alright. I'll just purchase this quickly and make my way out." Gordon said. "Just carry on with whatever you were doing then." He walked away and gave a small wave. As he paid for the suit Zacharie had picked out for him, he had a look of annoyance on his face. He knew for certain that they were probably at a confrontation outside. Just what was Zacharie doing? As the transaction was finished and Gordon began to leave, the cashier asked him something.
"Sir? Is everything alright? You and those other people seemed to have been rather....."
"It's fine. Don't worry. I apologize for the inconvenience." Gordon bowed slightly and walked outside, looking back to see if the Scout was still there.

Eric watched Gordon leave, a slight, sly smile across her face. How many other things had the spy not told his medic? Well, probably not about the whole "stupid bitch" thing. And, of course, there were the things Eric found in her room... She wasn't sure if anyone aside from her knew about those. Oh well, those would be saved for a rainy day. Eric waved a happy good-bye to Gordon and spun on her heel back toward the mens section. Yes, she had quite a few good cards to play as far as bothering the RED team went. All she had to do was wait.

"Oh--" Ruth's appearance brought Fran's plan to a halt, her mouth creasing into a slight frown of annoyance. All the information she managed to gain was a single word, which admittedly was more than she expected. Given his strong disapproval of letting the BLUs in their own common room, Fran highly doubted the spy was simply stopping by for a friendly hello. She'd have plenty of time to puzzle through this later, for now she regarded the soldier with a polite nod as she accepted Zacharie's cigarette. She felt a bit odd being the only one not smoking, but she certainly wasn't about to join them. If it tasted half as bad as it smelled, she was more than content to be the odd one out.

"Yes, please." Ruth was grateful for this little token of a gentleman. She stuck the filter in her mouth and was ready for Zach to give her a light. She glanced at Fran and she didn't look happy. Ruth didn't know what to say. She was just doing what she thought she had to do but apparently it wasn't the right thing. She wanted to say she was sorry, but was too proud of something to say it.

He quickly flicked open his lighter after putting his case away, lighting Ruth’s cigarette for her. “Do not mention it.” Zacharie felt like he should have been the one telling her thanks. Because with each passing moment after Fran’s compliments he began to feel more and more uncomfortable.
The spy put his lighter away and took another drag of his own cigarette. “Gordon should be here shortly, perhaps we can put this fiasco behind us and get those tools that Eunice wanted.” Zacharie was rather too eager to change the subject.

Gordon came walking over and noticed that Zacharie and Ruth were having a small smoke. Perhaps nothing particularly went on? He gave Zacharie a quick glance before turning to face them all with a small frown. He wasn't going to bring it up again since he surely didn't want to bring too much attention to them. So he kept quiet for the moment about that.
He wanted to question Zacharie as well, once they got back to base.
"Pardon me." Gordon said. "Shall we..... carry on then?"

Ruth took a light breath in to light the cigarette then a larger puff. She held it in for a couple seconds and turned her head away to blow out the smoke. She coughed lightly and she had enough. She rubbed the end of the tobacco on the ground putting it out. She still held onto it while she picked up the couple bags of food she had gotten earlier in the day. It was clear that her day was done and she just wanted to go home.

Fran has nearly forgotten about Eunice's supplies, the whole reason the came all the way into town. "Yeah, I guess he have wasted more than enough time." She stood up straight, brushing the dirt from where her dress had touched the brick wall. As much as her mind burned with the desire to know what he was hiding, it would have to wait for later. Waving the smoke from her teammate's cigarettes away from her face, she walked past them and over to Gordon. She was actually surprised to see he actually had the courage to buy something before he left the department store. With the dirty looks everyone was shooting at them, she was just happy to get out as soon as she could.

“Right then.” He nodded to his team mates, catching Gordon’s gaze. Eric could have said anything to him, he just hoped she hadn’t said too much. Zacharie broke his line of sight with him and looked down the road. “I’m certain the shop is very nearby.” He remarked, but only to move the conversation and their trip along. He wanted and at the same time did not want to leave.
Either way he had to prepare himself for the string of endless questioning he’d have to dodge as soon as they got home.

Gordon looked after Zacharie and realized that he should have asked Eric more questions..... He had been in a rush to get out of there. Damn. He had been fixated on simply getting back to Zacharie and the others but there was no use in worrying about that now. All would reveal itself in time, that was the logic he often went by.
He definitely had snuck into the base to steal documents. Understandable. But whatever for at this time? And to not mention it to them? At least..... Not to him. He sighed. He always was the loner. Tending to stay aloof and away.
"Right." Gordon replied as he began to walk.
