There was a time where Zacharie complained about having to take a simple taxi into town, but those were days of the past. Those were days where he didn't have to ride in the back seat of an old and dilapidated truck driven by one of his team mates. It was seriously cramping his style. And his legs.
“You know I’m usually very patient when it comes to long car rides into towns, but in this dingy truck, I can barely stand it.” He grumbled, chewing on the end of his unlit cigarette. The spy had been told not to smoke in the car, but he just needed to have one out of habit. Even if he didn't get to light up until they arrived at their destination.

"Mhm." Gordon mumbled as he continued to drive the truck, not paying much heed to his complaints. It wasn't often that they would get a chance to head out to a nearby town like this. What was it called again..... Rogue River? Gordon took a glance at the road signs, seeing if they were approaching their destination anytime soon. He estimated about a good several minutes before they would arrive since he noticed a sign in the distance stating that Rogue River was 10 miles away.

There were times when Fran missed her family dearly. When she would reminisce about the long car trips she had to endure when the went to visit relatives, then songs her father would sing to keep them all entertained, stopping for ice cream, sitting between her constantly bickering and complaining sisters....
Now that she stopped to think about it, maybe she didn't miss the complaining all that much. "For goodness sake, we're almost there. Just sit and be quiet." How many times did she hear her father say that? Fran was staring out at the trees as they flew by, fingers tapping on the arm rest. She glanced over at Zacharie. Seeing him try to sit comfortably in that tiny seat with his long legs scrunched together was downright comical. It was well worth all the cajoling she had to do to get him to set foot in the truck in the first place. Honestly, for an international man of mystery, he could be such a child sometimes.

“I’m trying.” He said, looking very unamused at his current situation. Oh, how he preferred a limo, a nice and fancy car with lots of leg room. Perhaps a miniature fridge with some champagne and a chauffeur to drive it as well. He’d had the opportunity to enjoy that kind of luxury in the past, why couldn’t RED’s funds cover such a thing anyway? It almost seemed like they just threw money away on weapons on a daily basis according to the intelligence he’d read. But Fran’s promises of ice cream did get him to agree to going, but it really wasn’t the true reason. No, he had another plan in mind for their trip.
“Ten miles isn’t too far. Thank goodness.” Zach looked out his own window, they really lived in BFE, didn’t they?

"Oh. Right. The ice cream." Gordon suddenly remembered that they were going to get ice cream as well..... He hoped that there would be some place to get ice cream..... How long had it been since he had eaten ice cream? He remembered that Ferenc, his best friend, had a great appetite for ice cream of any kind.
Observing the scenery he would smile faintly. It reminded him of all of the hunting trips he would go on throughout his childhood. After driving for several minutes, they finally drove into town.
"We're here." He said as he surveyed the town, searching for a place to park the truck. After finally finding a parking spot, he stopped the car and parked. Jumping out, he took a breath of fresh air while looking at the new scenery. He stretched a little after driving for quite a while.

"Ah, wonderful!" Fran eagerly jumped out the door, more than ready to be out of the cramped truck. Those small seats forced her to sit a little closer the Zacharie then she would have liked and she wasn't looking forward to the return trip very much for this reason. But that was a while off. For now, she got to enjoy the luxury of some new scenery. "So where all are we headed?" Fran silently scolded herself for not having a to-do list made. She's usually way more on top of things than this.

Zacharie awkwardly climbed out of the truck, dusting off his coat and making sure his suit wasn’t too wrinkled. “I suppose we can browse the shopping district.” He said as he wasted no time in finding his lighter and finally lighting his cigarette. It was a little difficult to take the first drag because he’d chewed on the filter a bit too much. It was satisfying nevertheless. The town was also very small, he was fairly certain they’d have no issues in finding it. At the very least they managed to escape Sawmill’s horrible weather, there were little to no threatening rain clouds loitering about.

"Hm. Sounds good." Gordon said as he turned to look at the various buildings. He locked the car and slid the keys into his pocket. "Weren't we getting things for Eunice as well?"

"Oh yeah..." Now that she was smart enough to make a list for. Fran fished around in her dress pocket to make sure it was still there. Yup, everything's in order. She was actually quite happy to have some company out here for once. That, and she'd definitely need the two of them with her if she was wanted to make heads or tails of the list Eunice sent with her.
The shopping center wasn't too impressive given the size of the town, but admittedly it could have been a whole lot worse. "I guess we should go to the hardware store first. It is what we came all the way out here for." As she spoke however, her eyes were fixed on the line of clothing stores. The allure of pretty dresses was indeed strong. And she did ruin one of her favorite shirts back when she reattached Eric's severed arm. The more she thought about it, the more she absolutely deserved more new clothes.

“Hm.” The clothing stores caught his eye too, in fact he was certain there must be a tailor among them. It would be nice to replace that one coat that caught fire-- and those shoes that were covered and red paint-- and the shirt AND coat that were covered in grape juice. Not to mention that each coat NEEDED a matching pair of pants, vest AND tie.
It was becoming very apparent that Zacharie was just as, if not more, interested in looking at the clothing stores first. “Why not save the hardware for last, we shouldn’t need to lug around tools and parts longer than we have too.” He motioned towards the clothing stores with a little grin. “Meanwhile, let’s browse a bit, we don’t want to make this trip too short, am I right?”

"Fine by me." Gordon said. "I'll just hang around then and look for some new shirts or pants." He had ruined one pair of pants by tearing the leg portion on a tree he had attempted to climb up. He didn't really want to think back to how embarrassing that was. Only looking for a different place to snipe from and..... Gordon put his hands in his pockets and followed the two, forgetting that embarrassment.

Fran was not about to argue. "If you say so. It can't hurt to look, right?" There would be much more than looking. Between the two of them they'd buy everything they could reasonably carry back to the truck. Maybe more, who knows. The day was young.
Pushing the glass door open, Fran entered the larger department store. Ahhh, it smelled like home. Hardware can definitely wait until later. "Meet back in what, an hour? Two? I'll take that as a yes." Leaving the men to fend for themselves, she made her way towards towards the women's wear.

Zach followed into the department store, but stopped and barely protested as Fran made her way to her department of choice. The spy was still grinning a bit with glee, puffing on his cigarette. Were they allowed to smoke in-doors in America? He couldn’t remember. It didn’t matter. Hands on his hips, he surveyed the store from he and Gordon’s current standpoint.
“Well then, fancy a look at the Men’s?” He looked at his comrade, nodding as he began to take a stride towards where the business wear was kept.

As Fran made her way to the women's wear, Gordon was looking through the department store as well. When he heard that Zacharie suggested for them to look at the Men's section, he shrugged. "Sure." He replied as he followed after Zacharie.

Ruth had been in town for a while and by then she had a few bags full of groceries and rations. She was in the clothing section of the store looking for a few new shirts to put on under her jacket and maybe a scarf since it was starting to get cold. There was nothing like new shirts: Three in a pack. Her wool beanie was a tad sweaty from running around all day and she was almost ready to get going home before the sun got too high.
