A pile of flat stones sat stacked precariously on the slanted roof. Sitting next to them,Eric watched as her most recent projectile skipped across the RED's side of the pond far below. She grinned when the pepple finally fell below the water. Seven times it had skipped across the surface of the pond. The battlefield, from what she could see, was complete empty. Not a soul to be seen. More specifically, not a soul to tell her to not to skip stones on the REDs side of the water.

"Don't you think you should be a little more... considerate?" A voice called out cautiously somewhere behind the Scout; one which was quickly followed by the patter of incoming footsteps. Ian appeared next to Eric, and the young man made no hesitation in taking a seat next to her on the roof. He hadn't been watching her from the back for very long, but it wasn't difficult to figure out what she was up to.
"I know RED hasn't really... been playing by the rules lately, but I mean, we don't need to stoop to that level too, right?" He elaborated, stammering just as much as usual. His worry of her enraging the other team was quite apparent. Knees up and arms folded under his legs, Ian glanced down at the pond under the two -- the ripples in the water created from the energetic fish below amused him a bit.

She was a bit startled to hear Ian's voice behind her, and she turned to look at him. Eric shrugged and turned back to chuck another rock at the pond. "I'm just throwing rocks at water, not like they can get that mad at me for it. I'm not hurting anything." She replied in an even tone. "Sides, I mean, they fucking broke into our base and wrecked our shit. Skipping stones is hardly much of a crime compared to that." Picking up another stone, she tossed it into the air and caught it again before holding it out to Ian with a sly smile. "Wanna try?"

"If you say so..." He replied to her reasoning flatly. Even though he didn't necessarily agree with Eric, Ian decided it was best not to pester her further. He didn't plan on leaving her alone either, in case a second accident ended in her other arm getting blown off -- or possibly worse.
When she offered him the rock, the Medic simply shook his head. "It's okay, I'm good." He declined while gently pushing her arm away from him. "I just... wanted to get out of the base for a while, that's all."

"Suit yourself." With her offer refused, she tossed the stone at the water. She noticed her pile of stones was beginning to dwindle and decided to take a break from skipping them. She pulled one leg up and rested her head on it, facing away from Ian. "Yeah, I don't blame you." Eric replied finally. "It gets so stuffy cooped up in there all day. Course it's not much better out here with how cold it always is, not to mention you can only walk around the battlefield so many times before it gets boring." She spoke with increasing irritation. Boredom was one thing that seemed to constantly be gnawing at her this base, and every other base she had been at, for that matter.

Ian rolled his sleeves down so that they covered his hands. "I don't think it's that bad." He responded with optimism, but considering how the man was gradually curling himself up to keep warm, his protest almost looked contradictory. "I mean... at least it's not really hot."
Of course, he wasn't tired of Sawmill yet either -- but then again, Ian always knew how to easily entertain himself. Things like studying, reading, cleaning... or taking a walk in the cold never had a hard time wiggling its way into his day. Eric probably wasn't like that, though...
A slightly awkward moment of silence dropped over the two before Ian spoke again. "I guess... that's how you ended up here, then?" He figured the answer to the question was obvious, but he wanted to keep conversation going.

She shrugged. "I assume by 'here' you mean on the roof. Yeah, I like being high up 'n stuff, running around the roofs and what not. Course, I have a bad habit of not exactly staying on the roofs." Eric chuckled and rubbed her neck, almost embarrassed to admit how clumsy she sometimes was. But, hey, he's the doctor, he might as well know what causes most of her out of battle injuries.

"Uh... yeah, that's what I meant. Sorry." Ian clarified, scolding himself a bit for his awful phrasing, as per usual. As he listened to Eric explain how injury-prone she was, he kicked his foot lightly against the edge of the roof -- watching as the dust previously caked onto the building made its descent into the pond. The rippling effects formed in the water still amused him, as if he were ten years old all over again.
"Sounds like you should be more careful." He replied and snickered alongside her, his comment being only partially serious. The young man shifted his sights to the clouds, then he continued. "But... I probably haven't had much room to talk lately, have I...?" It wasn't completely serious, but a hint of remorse laced the remark as the Medic's voice trailed off. He stifled a small laugh in an attempt to shake off a personal pity party.

"Well, nothings stopping you. You want more rm to talk? Kick the ass of hoever is taking up room, tell them that this is your room and they need to move their sorry ass!" She paused, then added, "Unless that person is me, in which case don't do that." Eric leaned back on the roof, resting her head on her hands. "Really though, chat to your hearts content, I wont stop you."

"That's not--" He started, tripping over his wording and failing to release his thoughts, yet again. The misunderstanding between the two had dissolved any hope of averting the awkward mood they now found themselves in. Ian hung his head back down.
"...It's an expression." He finally mumbled, voice quiet and calm. "I've been... getting hurt a lot lately myself -- so I can't really talk about being careful. That's all." He was thumping his foot against the roof again; anything to ease the nervousness that was always building up inside him.

His quiet tone prompted Eric to sit back up and look at him, a slight frown adorning her face. "Hurt? Like... whaddya mean?" She asked, wondering if the medic would even be willing to tell her. While she waited for an answer, she pulled her knees up to her chest, suddenly consious about slipping off the steep roof.

Upon hearing Eric question, Ian turned towards her -- confusion displaying on his face. "I've been shot and beat up and cut... without even being on the battlefield." He explained himself quickly, with a tone of voice that was almost monotonous. "...You were there, remember? You helped me." He crossed his arms over his knees and looked out in the direction of RED's base.
Of course, there were other things he'd been hurt by recently as well, but they were self-caused and... well, unreasonable. Even though the whole ordeal with RED's Spy was long over, he couldn't help but feel horrible about failing to stop his intrusion. But that was something that Eric didn't need to be bothered about. It'll go away on its own eventually, right? Things like that always did.

She blinked, looking down at her shoe. "Oh." It finally clicked in her head what he meant. Wow, that had to be one of the more stupid things she'd done. "W-well, I don't consider that sorta stuff a big deal, y'know. Shit happens." She stumbled over the words, hoping to cover up her blunder. Eric picked up one of the leftover stones and tossed it at the water, channeling her frustraitions into the throw.

Ian watched as the rock plummeted to the earth, making a deep 'bloop' sound upon colliding with the pond's surface. He couldn't help but choke on a laugh at the sound -- it certainly made a crack in the awkwardness shrouding the two.
"Still." The Medic started conversation again, his voice lighthearted this time. "I... never did properly thank you for uh, patching me up back then." When the two were cleaning up the mess before, he realized he probably looked like a huge jerk ignoring the Scout like that. In reality, he'd just been concentrating too much on feeling sorry for himself, which sadly wasn't too uncommon with Ian.
"So... yeah. Thanks." With as much sincerity as possible for a man who can't talk to save his life, Ian showed his appreciation. Smiling a bit, the man's gaze shifted to his knees.

Eric couldn't help but tilt back her head and laugh at what he said. "You already DID thank me, you moron!" She shoved his shoulder playfully, a wide grin plastered across her face. "Jeez, look at you being so serious, you act like I fucking saved your life or something. Lighten up dude, I just did what any... relatively, sane person would have done." She emphasized the word relative, fully away that none of them could be completely sane people, no matter how much they wanted to insist. They killed people for a living. Not just once, but dozens of times, killed the same people, and died themselves, but they always came back. Eric had a hard time believing that any sane person would find that morally sound, if nothing else not very productive. She over dramatically shrugged her shoulders and added, "Hey, if you wanna keep thanking me in general for being awesome, though, you can go right ahead."
